BAG is always open for submissions, and we try to publish about four times a year. We don’t waste time thinking about genres. We are looking for anything: hybrid works, collaborative pieces, visual poetry, collages, strange linguistic experiments, etc. We are just looking for words and images that fill the needs of the literary world today. We want work that is a record of what we are living in today, whatever that means to you. We need work that is not about aesthetic pleasure, that is uncomfortable, as surreal as real life. We need work that is as painful as it is beautiful. We need work that inquires, confronts and dismantles.
To submit, please use the following guidelines:
Submissions can be a be maximum of 3-5 poems or a maximum of 10-15 pages of double-spaced writing (maximum of 3750 words). Bios are optional. Works must not be published elsewhere. We encourage simultaneous submissions, but do let us know if someone else publishes you. We claim first-time electronic publishing rights that revert back to the author upon publication. We also reserve the right to nominate published work for awards.
For visual art, submissions can be anywhere between 3 and 15 pieces. Bios and artist statements are encouraged but not obligatory. Otherwise, follow the guidelines for other submissions.
Send all submissions to email@example.com. Submissions should be attached to the email as a separate file and not in the body of the email. Work will be read blind, but please use this format for the email and submission file: “[Your Name] – [Type of Submission].” All the usual file formats are accepted.
See you in the inbox.
